Några nedslag i hur Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) och hans psykoanalys använts i världen av strippar, skämtteckningar och serier. Inkomplett och säkert inte helt representativt. Men ändå.

Och en likaså slumpartat referenslista:

Existential Comics

“Karl Popper was interested in the demarcation between science and non-science. That is to say, he sought to find an exact definition which would distinguish all things that count as “science” from those that don’t. […]

This caused him to rethink many theories of the day that he has admired, which were trying to claim to be scientific. Freudian psychoanalysis was one such prominent theory which he found to be lacking. It seemed as though Freud’s theories could explain anything and everything, but they never seemed to make specific predictions… “

Hans Rickheit

“Sigmund Freud in the Uncanny Realm of the Unconscious.” The comic is an installment of Hans Rickheit’s Chrome Fetus Comics. In this episode, the good doctor is called upon to “survive in a world of his own making yet beyond his understanding — The Zone of Repression” (insert three descending and menacing musical chords here). Death wishes, violent monsters, sexually alluring but domineering mommies, and robotic threatening fathers are in abundance here (as is one ultramechanical all-powerful “psycho-phallus”). As Freud learns to face his fears and desires (and to “reconvert the psycho-plasm into the tools of analysis”) “intellect triumphs” and Ziggy “survives to explore and to cogitate.”

To prove his theories, the scientist intends to travel to the Wild West and attempt to reform the worst possible outlaws of the land. What better targets than the baddest, dumbest bandits ever – the Dalton Brothers! And who will be tasked with keeping a close watch on the experiment, with some unexpected but always hilarious results? Why, Lucky Luke, of course!”
